FAQ

  • I'm intrigued ... what does TRE® look like?
TRE® starts with six warm-up exercises, similar to some yoga stretches. These are followed by the tremoring process. Every person tremors differently - it all depends on what your body wants to release at a certain point in your practice. Some tremors are visible, some micro tremors are barely visible - it all depends and there's no judgement. Your body simply knows - trust the process! To give you a general idea, though, here's a brief example - the actual tremoring process (Floor Sequence) starts at 9:45) Please note: While TRE® is a self-help technique and is really simple, as it's tapping into our innate body reaction, many people want to be guided through these exercises. If that feels like you, please get in touch as I'd love to teach you TRE® in a safe, empathic manner, giving you the confidence to trust your body and holding the space for you while you are exploring and learning this amazing tool for life.
  • Can it really work? What is the science behind TRE®?
There is a lot of anecdotal evidence from about 1,300 TRE® Providers and their clients around the world, about 120 of which are in the UK. There are also quite a few academic studies and you can find a more in-depth explanation by Dr David Berceli in this video:
  • Is TRE® safe?
Generally, TRE® is safe for most people, after all, it has been designed as a self-help tool - please note, though, if you have a clinical diagnoses or psychiatric condition or are on medication, please check with your GP first. Also, as a precaution, we don't advise practising TRE® during pregnancy. Practising TRE® should be a pleasant experience and the most important criteria are that you are feeling safe, grounded and are able to self-regulate appropriately - when learning TRE® with myself or any Certified TRE® Provider, you will learn exactly this and will become more confident in your practice. Before working with you, I ask you to complete a health questionnaire to find out more about your health background.
  • Can I learn TRE® on my own?
You can learn from a book or by watching the official TRE® video, see below. However, like with many practices, e.g. yoga or Pilates, it's important to get the basics right, understand the process and feel confident and comfortable. Some TRE® clients don't want to start on their own, because they don't know what to expect - that's why I am here, it's my job to guide you through the process, make sure you are feeling safe and grounded and I will hold the space for you. If you've started practising TRE® on your own and don't experience any benefits or find it too intense or overwhelming - consider joining me on a course to get the most of your TRE® experience - I really want your TRE® journey to be a good and beneficial one, so you can enjoy using this tool for life. Let's have a chat to find out how I can best introduce you to TRE®.
  • Is TRE® a cure-all?
Definitely NOT! TRE® is a stress release technique - it activates our innate shaking mechanism and relaxes the muscles (where we store tension). That's all. Simple! The beauty is, when we are more relaxed, we are not holding tension and stress in our body, i.e. all these ailments caused by too much tension in our body can be addressed by practising TRE®, e.g. - tension headaches/migraines - neck/shoulder/back pain - teeth grinding - high blood pressure - gastrointestinal issues - sleep disorders - anxiety - irritability - and so much more ...
  • How much time do I need to practise?
I encourage you to do the whole set of warm-up exercises in the beginning of your TRE® journey so the practice takes typically about 20 minutes. After a while, your body won't need the whole warm-up sequence anymore and you can simply start with the actual tremoring on the mat. There's no hard rule, but many people tremor for about eight to ten minutes and then add at least two minutes to integrate, i.e. just staying on the mat, relaxing. It's up to you how often you want to practise - it might be daily, it might be every other day or just when you feel you really want to release tension. You'll notice yourself how often you want to practise, the benefits you get and the relaxation and other health benefits you'd like to create in your daily life.
  • What happens after I've attended your course?
The beauty of TRE® is that there's no dependency on me as your teacher and once you've learned how to practise TRE® safely it's your tool for life. Having said that, many of my participants asked for post course meet-ups as an incentive to keep their practice going. Hence, I am offering weekly group sessions for all my course participants who want to join in for a group experience - you'll notice the energy is so much different when practising with others as opposed to practising on your own.
  • Is TRE® therapy? Can it replace therapy?
TRE® isn't therapy, it's a self-help tool and it empowers people to pro-actively take their health and well-being into their own hands/body. TRE® is somatic, i.e. the body does the work - we don't talk or analyse any (past) situations. Many people's default modality is any kind of talking therapy, e.g. counselling, CBT or psychotherapy. Listen to yourself which avenue you'd like to take - I can't advise what's best for you – and I'm biased anyway 😉 Sometimes people get stuck in their counselling process - at this point complementing the cognitive therapy with a somatic modality like TRE® might be able to untangle the situation and afterwards the counselling process might flow so much better. Feel free to get in touch with me to ask any questions you might have.
