Someone asked me: "Aren't you worried about the state of the world?" I allowed myself to breathe and then I said,
"what is most important is not to allow your anxiety about what happens in the world to fill your heart. If your heart is filled with anxiety, you will get sick, and you will not be able to help."
Thich Nhat Hanh

I found the above quote and thought it's a good addition to my last blog post.
'The state of the world' is not just something we see in the news.
It’s also here in the UK and here in Kent, where many refugees are arriving, after experiencing significant stress, uncertainty and displacement.
Recently, two fellow TRE Providers and I have applied for funding to offer TRE sessions for refugees locally and alongside this, we’ve started a crowdfunding campaign.
Our intention is simple.
To offer a body-based way for people who have experienced significant trauma to begin to feel a little more settled again.
We believe that refugees who've gone through so much, whether they fled the Ukraine or came on a small boat from wherever in the world, can only benefit from TRE and a better regulated nervous system – we can only imagine the stress and trauma symptoms they experience due to displacement and resettlement.
And beyond the individual, there’s a wider ripple effect.
When people begin to feel safer in themselves, it becomes easier to:
connect with others
engage with their surroundings
take small steps into a new life
Once this has been achieved, refugees can find physical ease and can contribute their skills and expertise to our society, it gives people the safety required to step out of isolation and become active, engaged members of their new communities.
Over time, this supports not only individual well-being, but also community integration and contribution.
And as TRE can empower refugees to manage their own well-being, the long-term pressure on the NHS and social services can be reduced.
If you feel moved to support this project, you’re very welcome to do so.
At this early stage, even small contributions (that can be as small as £1 or £2) can make a difference.
At the heart of this is something I often share:
TRE is not about 'treating' people, but about supporting them to access their own inner resources.
In that sense, your donation doesn't just buy a range of workshops; it provides a toolkit that refugees carry with them into their new lives.
Thank you.
