What happens in Glasto, stays in Glasto

Well, it didn't and let's talk about it.

If you haven't seen Lewis Capaldi's performance at Glastonbury, here it is.

The singer revealed last year that he was diagnosed with Tourette's Syndrome.

That's a big label, that's what the world sees – involuntary movements and sounds called tics, e.g. blinking, coughing, throat clearing, sniffing, and facial movements.

Tourette's is a neurological condition and nasty people are laughing about his body's reactions.

As a TRE (Tension Releasing Exercises) Provider I and my colleagues see Tourette’s as the body wanting to naturally release stress, tension, anxiety or even trauma

through these movements.

And this is a very innate, helpful and positive reaction, because when the body makes these movements it helps and heals itself.

We humans, in fact all mammals (dogs do it beautifully), are genetically encoded to deal with stress in such a way, but we have been socialised out of it.

Ideally we don't want to tremor in front of people, but we can do so in the privacy of our homes and allow our body to retrospectively deal with this tension and preventatively build more resilience.

Nowadays, we tend to appreciate our cognitive mind much, much more than our body,

but I believe we are missing a trick.

Even a psychotherapist like Bessel van der Kolk, author of the best-seller The Body Keeps the Score, acknowledges how important it is to take the body into account.

I think we have to re-learn to listen to the body and not suppress its innate reactions, that can be so healing for us.

Because what we resist, persists, doesn't it?

So by trying to keep everything under control, the body tenses up and this tension can manifest as physical pain.

By learning and practising TRE, we can reconnect with our body and heal ourselves in the most natural way – and this is the case for all health issues, where tension is the root cause.

This is NOT woo-woo or New Age-y, but very natural and innate.

TRE is still quite niche but people who have been learning and practising TRE, discover its benefits and understand, well feel (!) the body's natural, instinctual release mechanism – and how good that feels.

I've worked with many clients who felt that this tremoring movement was what their bodies had been waiting for for ages.

As a result of reconnecting with the body and allowing this neurogenic release to happen, the nervous system is being regulated and various stress and tension related health issues can be healed, e.g. - tension headaches

- back pain

- anxiety

- irritability etc.

Let's see Tourette’s as a helpful reaction and I'd love to teach and show how to transform these tics into a natural healing release of tension.

And not just tics, TRE is TREmendous for anybody who wants to pro-actively help and heal themselves how to release tension in order to heal or prevent health issues manifesting.

Once learned, TRE is a tool for life, it's empowering and can save time and money, too.
