The clocks changed, but your body hasn't?

British Summer Time ended a while ago and the clocks went back.
How do you feel about this?
'Yippee, I had an extra hour in bed'
or
'Oh no, my sleep pattern is still disrupted.'
If you’re in that second group, you’re certainly not alone.

Each year, as we ‘fall back,’ many people feel a little off-kilter, slow in the morning, restless at night or just emotionally unsettled.
Your body also keeps time
Our bodies have their own internal clocks, a deep intelligence that tells us when to wake, when to rest, when to digest, even how our mood flows through the day.
But modern life – think of all the screens, caffeine and constant stimulation – often overrides that rhythm.
So when the external clock changes, the body quietly wonders:
'Wait a minute (pun intended) … what just happened?'
The result might look like:
Difficulty falling asleep or waking up too early
Foggy thinking or irritability
Digestive upset
Restlessness or anxiety
Your body isn’t misbehaving.
It’s simply readjusting.
Trying to find its rhythm again.
Letting the body unwind
This is where a somatic approach like TRE (Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises) can help the system realign.
Gently, naturally and without any force.
"I had my first full night's sleep in years!
Went to bed at 10.30pm and woke up at 8.30am!'"
Willy
When we’re under pressure, whether from stress, emotion or even subtle tension like disrupted sleep, our body activates protection patterns.
Muscles tighten
Breathing shortens
The nervous system stays on alert
TRE invites the body to do what it already knows how to do:
To release
To unwind and
To come home to calm, finding equilibrium
After a TRE session, clients often share that they feel:
Sleepier at bedtime
More energised in the morning
Emotionally more grounded
Physically more flexible and at ease
That’s your body finding its rhythm again.
Nature loves rhythm – and so do we humans
Although society celebrates productivity, nature celebrates rhythm.
We see it in the moon, the tides, the seasons, even in our heartbeat.
Expansion and contraction, light and dark, effort and rest.
The end of the Summer Time invites us to realign with that same natural rhythm.
Instead of pushing against the darkness, what if we allowed it to guide us inward:
To slow down
To listen
To restore
TRE is part of that invitation.
The gentle tremors that arise are your body’s way of remembering rhythm.
And safety.
By the way, you've tremored since you were in your mother's womb and this reflex is an involuntary neurological response that develops in the womb.
But that's the topic for another post.
"Yes, I have been practising and noticing the benefits:
I feel more relaxed and I am getting better sleep."

If you’re still feeling out of sync
If your body hasn’t quite caught up with the clock or you’re feeling tired but wired, your system might simply be asking for a reset.
You don’t have to push through.
You can listen.
You can release.
You can restore.
That’s what I can help you learn and experience, in a safe, natural and gentle way.
If you’d like to explore how TRE could support you, I offer free fact-finding chats.
These are definitely not sales calls, just a conversation to see if TRE resonates.
Your body is clever.
It just needs the space and permission to remember.
Other ways to support your body’s rhythm
If you prefer an alternative to TRE, something where you can experience a treatment, I also offer:
Jikiden Reiki online treatments, which work beautifully as energy is everywhere.
Reiki helps the body move into deep relaxation, i.e. the parasympathetic state where rest, digestion and the activation of your self-healing capacities can naturally occur.
At this darker time of year, that return to inner light can feel like a gentle homecoming.
It’s a permission to rest.
"Observing my husband during the Jikiden Reiki session is amazing.
He seems to fall into a deep sleep as soon as you start.
Sometimes his limbs start twitching and
when you finish he suddenly wakes up feeling very relaxed and good about himself.
That's my proof that it does work from afar."

Silent Counselling, which is a blend of EFT (tapping), Kinesiology (muscle testing) and breath work.
Silent Counselling is a non-invasive technique designed to quickly identify and release emotional blockages.
It is a modality for clearing the emotional charge connected to a specific issue without the need to talk or analyse the event – a simple energy shift within.
"So many positive changes, amazing!
After our Silent Counselling session I was active and creative,
what I couldn't express for months,
I now felt in the flow.
Also, some conflicts with my partner were resolved and
I'm much better at setting boundaries.
I feel that my life is flowing again
and everything feels lighter and easier."
Nelly
When we honour the body’s natural rhythm, through sleep, breath, movement and awareness, we don’t just adapt to the changing clock.
We cultivate relaxation and resilience within the natural flow of life.
I'm here for you.
