On a scale from zero to ten - how good is your sleep?
It's Sleeptember and according to The Sleep Charity the biggest lifestyle factors contributing to poor sleep are stress and anxiety.
There are many reasons for worries: work, relationships, finances, ill health, arguments (never go to bed angry!) … the list is endless.
The Sleep Charity explains: “Stress causes the heart rate to go up and in turn the mind starts to ‘race’. This causes the brain to become too alert and stimulated to sleep.”
And then they suggest the 'usual suspects' for getting better sleep, such as:
A good wind down routine, like warm baths, soothing music, reading, gentle stretching and yoga
Avoiding technology/blue light before bed
A regular sleep pattern
The right temperature in your bedroom
No gadgets in the bedroom
The bed is only for sleeping and s*x
The right mattress for your body
No caffeine for up to five hours before bed
Avoiding alcohol
No big meals before bedtime
Don't try too hard to fall asleep
No clock watching
As a TRE Provider, I'd like to add the most innate and natural sleep aid, though:
A short practice of TRE.
TRE will down-regulate an overly active nervous system which can help you to calm down and relax very deeply.
After all, the majority of people who've experienced TRE feed back that they had the most amazingly good night's sleep. It made my heart sing when a client of mine told me how she calmed her worries with TRE by getting out of bed to practise TRE – you can read all about it here. What's not to like? A tool that, once learned safely, is for life and can assist you in getting a good night's sleep – as well as any form of tension release.

Get in touch to start your TRE journey – and one day you might join me in wondering: “Why on earth isn't everybody shaking it off?”
Natural. Innate. TREmendous.
